The German Village Oktoberfest (독일마을 맥주축제) takes place in the German Village area of Namhae-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, from October 9 to October 11, 2026.
Inspired by Germany's Oktoberfest, the festival combines German-style food, beer and music with the history of Koreans who worked in Germany during the 1960s and 1970s.
About the festival
The German Village Oktoberfest is Namhae's representative cultural tourism festival. It draws on the scenery of the German Village and the historical significance of the Korean expatriate movement to Germany.
The German Village is a community where overseas Koreans settled after returning from Germany, where they worked as miners and nurses during the 1960s and 1970s. The village preserves the history of these workers' lives and of exchange between Korea and Germany. The festival links this history and the village's identity with its programme, and aims to be enjoyed by both domestic and international visitors.
